Q. What programs are available through the Online Technical Institute?
A. Right now, the only program available is Automotive Service Technician. But we hope to be offering additional programs soon.

Q. How do I sign up for this program?
A. When you are scheduled to go to school, let your training consultant or scheduler know that you would prefer to do your training online.

Q. Do I need special computer expertise to be successful?
A. No, but you should be comfortable using a computer to prepare word-processed documents, send e-mail, store files, and access the Internet.

Q. Is all of the material for the course online?
A. You'll find that many of the lessons are detailed enough to help you grasp the main points. However, you will also have to consult a textbook and you are expected to do some of the practical training at your workplace. You'll be scheduled to attend your local college for practical demonstrations and practical and written examinations.

Q. Is there assistance available if I need help when I'm online?
A. Yes, you'll be able to e-mail and chat with your teacher and fellow students about the course content; you'll receive a phone number to call your teacher if you prefer to interact that way; and there is a technical support line available for all online students if they run into computer-related problems.

Q. How long does it take to complete a level of training when I do it online?
A. There is a fixed schedule for this online program, and you must meet the deadlines assigned by your teacher. We've set it up so that it will take you a maximum of 40 weeks to complete a level. That corresponds to the time it takes to complete a level if you are doing it one day per week. However, if you choose to complete the courses more quickly, you may do so.
